Historic Building Repair Projects
Dundee Historic Environment Trust have supported the repair of many historic buildings and townscape features since we were established in 2004. Find out more about some of our recent grant aided projects below.
This Category B Listed building in Dundee’s central conservation area was built in 1815-19. The project to repair and restore the roof, chimneys, gutters, lead flashing and pointing brought together multiple owners. Dundee Historic Environment Trust was able to contribute £88,630 towards the cost of the eligible works.
Before the improvement to the rainwater goods, a combination of PVC and lead guttering in poor repair was not sufficient to route rainwater effectively away from the building, leading to water ingress and damage. After the works we can see that rain will be more effectively directed away from the building and down to ground level without entering the building. This is a vital part of protecting our historic buildings as climate change brings an increased risk of extreme weather events.

Chimneyheads were also restored, maintaining the historic character of the building as well as improving watertightness.

13 Albert Square is a Category A Listed building which is home to Shepherd Chartered Surveyors and Hardies Property & Construction Consultants. The former Dundee branch office of the Northern Assurance Company was built in 1883.
Prior interior refurbishment increased the usable office space and allowed the owner to invest in the exterior of the building. Work was undertaken to the stonework and roof in order to enhance the quality, appearance and condition of this city centre landmark.
